Heat Treatment Procedures

  • Stress Relief: 1250°F (677°C) for 1 hour per inch of thickness (minimum 2 hours, maximum 4 hours)
  • Homogenization: 2000°F (1093°C) for 1 hour followed by air cool to minimize anisotropy
  • Solution Anneal: 1900°F (1038°C) per ASTM A564/A564M for 0.5 hours, rapid cool to <90°F
  • Age Hardening (H900): 900°F (482°C) for 1 hour and air cool per ASTM A564/A564M
  • Hot Isostatic Pressing: 14.5 ksi (100 MPa) at 2087°F (1141°C) for 240 minutes in argon
