Maraging 250 is a tough, relatively soft and therefore readily machined and formed. Full properties achieved through martensitic precipitation aging.  Full Maraging 250 is part of the 18% Nickel Maraging Steel family alongside Maraging 200 and Maraging 300. When taking into consideration Maraging steels, even though some of them contain Cobalt and some Titanium as their strengthening alloy, one must remember that their physical properties are similar. So similar are they that the number in the grade name (250 in this case) corresponds, relatively, not 100% but in most cases, to the tensile strength with most other properties the same.

Usually furnished in the annealed condition Maraging 250 is relatively soft and easy to machine. However after heat treating  and via precipitation hardening the hardness increases greatly which makes this steel sufficient for tooling applications.

Maraging Steel 250 is available in Round Bar in AMS 6512 and MIL-S-46850.
