Inconel 800 or Incoloy 800, or perhaps even 800H or 800HT. Inconel 800 goes by many names and carries with it a few variations. Incoloy 800 originally developed by Special Metals has been around since the 1950s but back then, Nickel wasn’t as widely available and really only used for special cases when producing certain steels. This grade has always been known to contain properties for high temp strength and resistance to carburization, oxidation and other high temp corrosion.

The variations of this grade come in 2 forms, Incoloy 800H and Incoloy 800HT. The 800 variety has a higher level of Carbon than the straight 800 counterpart which allows for a higher creep. Incoloy 800 HT features a restricted elemental structure that is within standard 800H chemistry but also requires heat treating. The variation of the Carbon, Aluminum and Titanium give the 3 grades of 800, 800H and 800 HT similar properties but not 100% the same, thus the need to split out this group into 3 alloys.

This material is available in round bar, wire, plate, sheet, strip, pipe and tubing. For more information check out our the transcript to our YouTube Video on Incoloy 800 or watch below.
