Monel K500 or in generic form, Alloy 500 is an alloy primarily of Nickel and Copper. The Monel
name applies when it is produced by Special Metals Corporation. The UNS designation is
Monel K500 is a precipitation hardenable alloy with a nominal composition of 30% copper and
66% nickel. Additions of Aluminum and Titanium provide increased yield and tensile strength
after precipitation heat treatment..
Corrosion resistance is excellent and is often used where increased strength as compared to
Monel 400 is required .
Monel K500 has low magnetic permeability in the hardened condition.
