Alloy 405 is a solid solution alloy with a nominal composition of 30% copper and 67% nickel and
is not hardenable by heat treatment. Machinability of this alloy is enhanced by the addition of
sulfur as compared to Alloy 400.
Corrosion resistance is excellent. Monel 405 has excellent marine environment performance
and is found in many applications.
Alloy 405 may or may not respond to a magnet at room temperature depending on the chemical
