What’s up guys? Michael with Metals in a Minute. AMS 5663 is a specification for Inconel 718, Alloy 718, or UNS N07718.
It is a precipitation hardening high strength corrosion resistant nickel alloy.
It is used in applications requiring strength and creep resistance at temperatures up to 1300 deg
F or oxidation resistance at temperatures up to 1800 deg F.
Premium aircraft quality with multiple melting and Consumable Electrode Remelting is required.
Material is in the form of Bars, Wire, Forgings, and Rings in the solution and precipitation heat
treated condition.
Nominal solution heat treatment temperature is 1775 deg F
Samples of the material are tensile tested to verify the results of heat treatment to specified
requirements.
