AMS 5662 is a specification for Inconel 718, Alloy 718, or UNS N07718.
It is a precipitation hardening high strength corrosion resistant nickel alloy.
It is used in applications requiring strength and creep resistance at temperatures up to 1300 deg F or oxidation resistance at temperatures up to 1800 deg F.
Premium aircraft quality with multiple melting and Consumable Electrode Remelting is required for AMS 5662.
Material is in the form of Bars, Wire, Forgings, and Rings in the solution treated condition.
Nominal solution heat treatment temperature is 1775 deg F
Samples of the material are precipitation heat treated to verify response to heat treatment of parts during manufacture.
