What’s up guys? Michael with Metals in a Minute. AMS 5597 is a specification for Inconel 718, Alloy 718, or UNS N07718.
It is a precipitation hardening high strength corrosion resistant nickel alloy.
It is used in applications requiring high strength at temperatures from cryogenic to 1000 deg F
or oxidation resistance at temperatures up to 1800 deg F.
Premium aircraft quality with multiple melting and Consumable Electrode Remelting is required.
Material is in the form of Sheet, Strip, and Plate in the solution treated condition.
Nominal solution heat treatment temperature is 1950 deg F
Samples of the material are precipitation heat treated to verify response to heat treatment of
parts during manufacture
