What’s up guys?!?!?! Michael with Michael Talks Metal back for the one hundred and thirty fifth episode in our current series. For the last few weeks, we have been talking about popular Copper alloys categorized as Brass or Bronze.
Today we are going to introduce an alloy of Copper and Nickel. There are several alloys that are called “Cupro Nickel” depending on the alloying elements.
Not surprising, Nickel is the major alloying element with lesser amounts of other elements making up its chemical composition.
Our alloy today is Cupro Nickel 90 – 10, UNS designation C70600.
It has excellent corrosion resistance and thermal conductivity.
Typically used in parts requiring its sea water corrosion resistance, it is found in many marine applications, desalinization equipment, sea water piping, and heat exchangers.
