COVID-19 in 2020

COVID-19 - Effective 3/12/20

Dear Valued Customer,

On Friday, March 20, 2020, in response to the outbreak of Covid-19, Illinois Govenor J.B. Pritzker issued a stay at home order for all residents of the State of Illinois.

However, personnel required for Essential Activities, Essential Governmental Functions, or to operate Essential Businesses and Operations will be exempt from this order. In addition to Homeland Security, Governor Pritzker’s proclamation defined the following as one of the essential businesses:

Manufacture, distribution, and supply chain for critical products and industries. Manufacturing companies, distributors, and supply chain companies producing and supplying essential products and services in and for industries such as pharmaceutical, technology, biotechnology, healthcare, chemicals and sanitization, waste pickup and disposal, agriculture, food and beverage, transportation, energy, steel and steel products, petroleum and fuel, mining, construction, national defense, communications, as well as products used by other Essential Businesses and Operations.

We would like to take the opportunity to reassure you that Michlin Metals is taking every precaution necessary to mitigate the risk to its employees, their families, our suppliers, and customers.  We are working to minimize any disruptions to our lead time or on-time delivery service.  This is an evolving situation; we are monitoring and making changes accordingly. Steps have been taken to keep our employees safe and healthy. We have explained to all employees that we are supporting and following CDC protocol. We are allowing employees to work from home wherever possible.

Additionally, we actively train and support cross-training of job responsibilities which will allow us to continue the workflow if absenteeism occurs.  At this time, many of our suppliers have indicated that there is no disruption in service, however slight logistical delays may occur with a segmented workforce. We are in constant communication with our suppliers and will update our website with information as this situation evolves.

Homeland security as well as Governor Pritzker have deemed the "Steel" industry as "essential" and thus Michlin will remain open. Should you make the decision to close, please notify us as soon as possible.   Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions, concerns or additional requirements to meet your demands. We realize that things may be uncertain that will impact all our businesses. We will do whatever we can to assist during these challenging times.
